Success! What a disaster. It was Christmas Eve, and I had planned to take my partner to an important medical appointment. We left early to avoid any last-minute rush, but as luck would have it, I barely made it out of the driveway before I felt that dreaded wobble—flat tyre.
I pulled over, inspected the damage, and quickly made a decision. “Take a taxi,” I told my partner, “I’ll catch up as soon as I’ve sorted this.” 

Thankfully, I had left a few minutes early, so I had a bit of a buffer.
I changed the tyre, slapped on the temporary spare, and managed to pick my partner up just as their appointment ended. But my day was far from over.

With Christmas Day looming and a long journey planned for the next morning, I couldn’t risk being stuck with a temporary tyre limited to 50 mph. Time was ticking—it was already 11:30 a.m., and most repair shops were closing by 1 p.m.
The first tyre shop I tried was fully booked. The second? Same story. 

Frustration was creeping in, but I didn’t give up. I drove straight to the main dealer where I had bought the car, explained the situation, and hoped for the best.
To my relief, they were incredibly helpful. Despite the holiday rush, they managed to repair the tyre quickly, saving me from a restricted journey and ensuring my holiday plans weren’t ruined.

Looking back, this experience reminded me of the importance of preparation and persistence. If I hadn’t left early, had a spare tyre, or been willing to push through rejection, the day could’ve ended very differently.
